Welcome to Golf Shot Tracer ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience using our mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

Anonymous User Identifier

We use Firebase Authentication to assign an anonymous identifier to each device. This identifier contains no personal information such as your name, email, or phone number. It is used solely to associate analytics and crash reports with your device for troubleshooting purposes.

Device Information

We collect basic device information including platform type (iOS or Android) and app version. This helps us optimize the app for different devices and understand our user base.

Usage Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data. This includes:

  • App opens and session information
  • Video recording and selection events
  • Ball tracking and trajectory editing actions
  • Video export events
  • Settings and preference changes
  • Onboarding flow completion

This data helps us understand how users interact with our features and improve the app experience.

Crash Reports

We use Sentry for crash reporting and performance monitoring. When the app crashes or encounters an error, we collect diagnostic information to help us identify and fix issues. Sentry is explicitly configured to NOT collect personally identifiable information (PII).

Video Processing

Important: All video processing occurs entirely on your device. Your golf videos are never uploaded to our servers. The ball detection and trajectory tracking happens locally using on-device AI processing. We do not have access to your videos or the content within them.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect any of the following:

  • Personal identification (name, email, phone number)
  • Location data or GPS coordinates
  • Contact information
  • Financial or payment information
  • Biometric or health data
  • Browsing history
  • Your videos or video content

Device Permissions

The app requests the following device permissions to function:

  • Camera: Required to record golf shot videos
  • Microphone: Required to record audio with your videos
  • Photo Library: Required to select existing videos from your device

These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality. Your media remains on your device and is not uploaded to any server.

Data Storage and Security

Your video projects, trajectory data, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

The anonymous analytics and crash data we collect is transmitted securely and stored by our third-party service providers (Firebase and Sentry) in accordance with their security practices.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics and user behavior analysis
  • Firebase Authentication: For anonymous user identification (no personal data collected)
  • Sentry: For crash reporting and performance monitoring (PII collection disabled)
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For app distribution and payment processing

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your information:

  • Right to access information about data we collect
  • Right to request deletion of your anonymous identifier
  • Right to opt-out of analytics collection by uninstalling the app

Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal information from any users, this policy applies equally to all age groups.
